What is saffron?

Saffron is known in many households as a spice. However, Saffron is more than that, it is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory derived from the flower of Crocus sativus. It contains 3 bioactive compounds.

  • Crocin - An antioxidant with free radical scavenging activity
  • Safranal – Anxiolytic and antidepressant properties
  • Picrocin – The precursor of Safranal and is often missed from lower cost saffron supplements

Saffron pixie sticks are an alternative way to incorporate saffron into your day to day lives. Pixie sticks are straw packaging that contain powdered saffron. Our Saffrosun capsules can be twisted open and the powder mixed with food or drink in the same way.

What is the difference between Saffrosun for Children and Saffrosun Calm?

The difference between Saffrosun for children and Saffrosun Calm is the amount Saffron and Vitamin B12 they contain per capsule:

Saffrosun Calm: (suitable for adults and children aged 12+)

15 mg of Saffron and 1.25 mcg of Vitamin B12 per capsule. 

Saffrosun for Children: (suitable for children aged 6+)

7 mg of Saffron and 0.6 mcg of Vitamin B12 per capsule.

What else does Saffrosun for Children contain?

Saffrosun for Children contains Saffron extract, Vitamin D3 and Vitamin B12. These ingredients are encased in a natural tapioca shell. 

How much saffron should children take and when?

We recommend two capsules a day, preferably in the morning with breakfast. 

In children Saffron is efficacious at doses of 14mg per day.

Will Saffron help my child sleep?

Saffron extract has been shown to be an effective supplement to help improve sleep quality and duration. Saffron helps to calm the mind allowing us to drift off into a deep sleep.

Made from some the world’s most potent saffron, Saffrosun for Children contains the highest strength of bioactives at a strength of 3.5% of all three active components (crocin, safranal & picrocrocin) per capsule, which have been proven to improve psychological balance, tiredness and help you feel rested and refreshed on waking.

The addition of the sunshine vitamin D3 and vitamin B12 all impact positively on energy levels and vitality.

Baobab is a prebiotic that we add to support the natural gut microbiome. This is packed with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients such as protein to support our gut health along with digestive and immune health.

How to use

CHILDREN aged 6-9 years: Take ONE capsule each morning, with food.

CHILDREN aged 10-14 years: Take TWO capsules each morning, with food.

All of our capsules can be twisted open and the contents mixed with food or drink, such as a yogurt or smoothie, to consume if required.

We always recommend that you follow a healthy and balanced diet.

Key Ingredients

We pick saffron from Catalonia in Northern Spain, which produces the highest strength of saffron (3.5%) with the three bioactives we’re looking for (crocin, safranal and picrocrocin). Catalonia enjoys the ideal temperatures and soil conditions to grow the most potent saffron in the world.

Vitamin D3 is from algae sourced off the Scottish coast and our Vitamin B12 is from mushroom.
